Michael Giel, Lakeside Orchestra
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year with the Lakeside High School Orchestra!
I am very excited to have the opportunity to lead the orchestra program at Lakeside. Our three orchestras, Sinfonia, Philharmonia and Camerata, are composed of over 140 musicians, and Lakeside Orchestras perform at least 7 concerts each year. Our Private Lesson Program is conveniently held after school to give students one-on-one instruction by professional musicians. In addition, on sectional days, Atlanta-based professional string players instruct small groups of students based on instrument sections. Guest clinicians and conductors, including Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians, teach our students at Lakeside during their class times. In Spring 2017, the Lakeside Orchestra program will go on a field trip to hear the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra perform and participate in a private (Lakeside-only) post-concert Q & A with Symphony musicians.
The Lakeside High School Orchestra Association (LHSOA) supports the endeavors of the Lakeside Orchestra Program. LHSOA is a volunteer association composed of dedicated parents who help plan events, organize volunteers, and send communications. Parents and community members are vital to making our program the success it is, so please consider volunteering in any capacity that works for you!
Everything we do in the Lakeside Orchestra Program is geared towards providing your child an exemplary and enriching musical education.
Throughout the year, we will be posting important events on our calendar and in the Newsletter. Be sure to sync the LHS Orchestra Calendar with your family’s calendar, and "Like" Our Facebook Page!
I look forward to meeting you this school year. Let's all work together to make this a great year!
